Students at this level are challenged with high academic standards in a Christian community learning environment. The curricula follow Illinois State Standards. Strong emphasis is placed on the basics of reading, math, language arts, science, and social studies. A well-rounded program that uses a combination of phonics, sight words, grammar, and spelling helps to create strong reading and communication skills. An in-house reading specialist works with the students in their classrooms and also meets with the students on an individual basis. A wide variety of hands-on activities, both individual and group based, help keep students interested. The use of computers, literature, and thinking exercises also enhance the learning environment.

In addition to this solid core curriculum, Maternity BVM students' creativity is fostered through the use of fine arts classes, such as Music and Art. Physical Education, as well as a combination of indoor and outdoor activities, improves students' gross motor skills. Every classroom has a bank of computers that are available for instruction and student use. In addition, every student regularly visits our state of the art Learning Center where they receive instruction in keyboarding, internet skills, and many learning based computer programs. All of this together helps produce a well-rounded student.
