MBVM PreSchool Philosophy
Our goal is to make the child's first educational experience a positive one where they will grow in their awareness of themselves, their relationship with God, nature, and others. Each child shall participate in a wide variety of growth experiences. One such experience, which we feel essential, is creative play which is designed to help them work independently as well as with other students in a Catholic atmosphere.
Curriculum
The MBVM Pre-School Curriculum is structured to better prepare the pre-school student for advancement into Kindergarten.
Daily Subjects include:
- Language Arts
- Math
- Religion (includes Bible stories, workbook lessons and prayer experiences.)
- Daily "hands on" Learning Lab Exploration
o Art Lab
o Block Lab
o Computer Lab
o Dramatic Play / Puppet Theater Lab
o Sand / Water Lab
o Science Lab
o Writing / Listening Lab
Labs are changed weekly according to the theme of the week. Other education experiences include: Story-time, Movement Activities, Music, Gross Motor Skills Development, Making Books, Journal Writing.
Curriculum Goals
By the end of Pre-School the students should be able to:
• recognize upper and lower case letters
• see a recognizable increase in language development through stories, sharing time, journal writing, etc
• recognize numerals 0-20
• count to 100
• correctly print his / her first name
• at the appropriate times work independently

Pre-School Admission Policy
The Maternity BVM Pre-School operating under the auspices of the Diocese of Joliet will admit students of any race, color, sex, national, or ethnic origin and will have access to all of the rights, priviledges, programs, and activities that are generally available to students in such centers.
To qualify for the MBVM 4 year old pre-school program, a child must have attained the age of four by September 1st of the year of entry.
A copy of the child's birth certificate and baptismal certificate (if applicable) must be presented at the time of admission.
The child must be potty trained in order to qualify for admission to the pre-school.
