Social Studies

Awareness of the world around us is an important part of every well-rounded student. Our Junior High Social Studies program uses current events, geography, United States history, and world history to create students who are in touch with our ever-changing world. Through the use of maps and the internet, students learn about the changing face of the world. They study local news and learn about national and international news.

In order to understand the current world, one must understand the past, so the history of the United States is an important part of our curriculum. World history and other countries also shape our present world. Students learn where these countries are and what role they played in creating current situations.

Every good citizen should understand how his/her government works. Maternity BVM students study the make-up of our local, state, and federal government and learn how to be an involved citizen. They all pass the Federal and State Constitution tests as a requirement for graduation.
