Backboard Requirements  - 8th GRADE ONLY!

The Science Fair Backboard is used to display the results from your experiment. 

The board should be neat and organized. 

Be CREATIVE - Use colors, add borders/background designs, pictures

Display board:   Maximum size of  76 X 122 cm      No taller than 152 cm (5 ft).

Items THAT MUST BE displayed on the board include:

1)  IJAS Forms REQUIRED on the front of the board

      (Abstract, Safety, Endorsement forms - they can be reduced to 50% of the original size)

2) Purpose

3) Hypothesis

4) Materials

5) Procedure

6) Controls, Variables

7) Results Table(s)

8) Results Graph(s)

9) Conclusion

10) Pictures/Diagrams 

BACKBOARD Safety Concerns/Limitations

No glass object may be displayed unless it is a component of some unique apparatus. 

Chemicals are not displayed  Photographs should be substituted.

NO Hazardous materials: explosive, flammable, corrosive, poisonous materials, rockets,

                                            compressed or aerosol cans

Fire hazards: no open flames, torches, or burners

Radiation: no laser, UV-light, X-rays, or other radioactive materials are displayed.

No vertebrates, invertebrates, or animal tissue are displayed.

No hypodermic needles or syringes are displaye

No cultures of any kind are displayed.

Electrical and/or mechanical equipment is (are) shielded, durable, enclosed, insulated, and quiet.
