Review of Literature  and APA Reference Page - IJAS Guidelines

Review of Literature Information

  • Paper should be written using 3rd person. (Avoid using words like "I"  "You" etc.)
  • Paper should be double spaced; use one inch margins
  • 7th Grade:  1000 - 1200 words, 4-5 pages long;     8th grade:  1200 - 1400 words, 5-7 pages long 
  • Paper should be written using logical and/or related groupings of information:
  •      An Introduction paragraph
  •      A Body of information supporting the introduction paragraph
  •      A  Conclusion paragraph
  • Use tables, diagrams, pictures to help explain scientific principles
  • Calculations, spelling, grammar, and quotations should be accurate
  • Parenthetically cited using APA format - Reference citations listed at the end of paragraphs
  • Reference page should follow the APA format - references less than 10 years old
  • 7-10 References should be used (for 7th/8th grade)

1)   Reference List must be double-spaced

2)   It is alphabetized according to the first letter of each entry

3)   Entries should be formatted using a hanging indent.  (Entries should begin flush left and the second and all subsequent lines should be indented.)
